High-density polyethylene or polyethylene high-density is a thermoplastic polymer produced from the monomer ethylene. It is sometimes called "alkathene" or "polythene" when used for HDPE pipes. With a high strength

-to-density ratio, HDPE is used in the production of plastic bottles,corrosion

-resistant piping, geomembranes and plastic lumber. HDPE is commonly recycled, and has the number "2" as its resin identification code.

Application

1) HDPE is used to make oil-resistant sturdy bottles. Clear bottles are usually  

    made from other plastics such as polyethylene terephthalate.

2) Various types of containers, industrial accessories, medical supplies, toys, 

    shells, stoppers and shields can be formed by injection molding.

3) Various hollow containers, ultra-thin films, etc. can be formed by blow molding.

4) Extrusion can be used to form tubing, stretch tape, strapping, monofilament, 

    wire and cable jackets, and more.
